Construction Engineer
Primary objective:
• Supervise/provide the cost function during design and/or construction stages of assigned project/projects.
• Maintain the current and baseline control budgets, analyze the effect of proposed changes and maintain the baseline change control authorization process.
• Monitor, update and analyze man-hour budget and expenditure.
• Prepare and manage change order / variation to scope of work.
• Preparation of budgets in conjunction with engineering and Project Management team members.
• Ensure effective coordination and cooperation between other team members, particularly in regard to cost, planning (forecasting) and project management matters.
• Supervise & develop other project controls/cost, specialist and support staff.
• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, co-ordinate preparation of commercial timesheets for reimbursable projects
• Liaise with Finance to establish a project cost control and reporting methodology.
• Interface with project personnel to develop project forecasts and analyze project costs.
• Liaise with clients to clarify cost related issues and provide timely inputs for preparation of monthly invoices.
• Preparation of monthly project reports for the project. Also prepare other financial analysis as required on adhoc basis.
• Prepare and control inter-entity work orders (IEWO).
• Quality Assurance – Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system relevant to the WP Business Unit.
• Safety – Responsible for personal safety safe working practices for the WP Business Unit. Understand and follow OH&S procedures.
• Provide monthly project status reports (financial etc.) to the Senior Management
Job Specific Knowledge:
• Demonstrated knowledge of engineering design, construction and project delivery.
• Sound knowledge of working with and controlling estimate and work breakdown structures.
• Pro-active approach to project controls.
• Sound working knowledge of Primavera P6 software is desirable.
• Cost estimating background and experience will be an added asset.•
Industry Specific Experience:
• Cost control experience within the oil and gas industry, of which a majority must be as a Cost Engineer for an offshore/onshore projects
Education – Qualifications:
• Engineering Degree or Equivalent (any discipline)
• HSE Capability:
