We are currently looking for experienced professionals for the following role:
Lead Pipelines Engineer
Purpose:
The Lead Pipeline engineer shall have the ability to carry out engineering design of pipeline systems, including pipeline, crossings and aboveground facilities, on Oil and Gas projects and ensure the design is in accordance with the applicable ASME codes of practice and BP engineering specifications, using manual calculations and experience.
Key Accountabilities:
• Experienced in managing a team of Engineers and Designers.
• Experience in working with large multinational oil and gas companies
• Coordination and implementation of engineering activities.
• Responsible for safe working practices both personally and for the designers in the team, using the WorleyParsons OneWay framework.
• Responsible for personal safety and safe working practices. Understand and follow OH&S procedures.
• Develop positive client and project relationships.
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to work autonomously.
• Experience in coaching and mentoring graduates and inexperienced engineers and designers.
• Provide input to proposals (man-hour estimates and execution strategies) and assistance with business development and client relationship management including liaison with client discipline representatives to establish technical direction where not provided by codes and standards.
• Manage Value Improvement Processes including Design to Capacity, Value Engineering and Risk Workshops. Perform process optimisation studies and technology selection in pre-FEED including facilitating Value Engineering workshops.
• Develop and update Engineering Standards as well as Technical specifications.
• Capable of performing process selection, concept and FEED through to Detailed Design and EPC (including commissioning and initial start-up procedures and operating manuals) for major greenfield developments and associated brownfield integrations, upgrades and troubleshooting/debottlenecking.
• Competently review and comment on vendor data for a wide range of equipment and packages and, demonstrate the ability to plan and implement design activities to allow timely availability of and incorporation of vendor information into the design.
• Competently prepare proposals and reports, schedule and plan work effectively and, consistently complete work within budgeted hours.
• Proactive approach in managing design activities to reduce overall project costs and durations.
Essential Skills / Competencies Required:
• Knowledge of Industry Pipeline Codes especially ASME B31.4 and B31.8.
• Be fully conversant with onshore buried pipeline analysis theory, design fundamentals and construction methodology.
• Understand aboveground installation (AGI) designs covering launcher and receiver stations, block valve stations (BVSs).
• Direct the development of and review all pipeline design drawings; including site specific designs, alignment sheets and typical details.
• Experience in design, construction and remediation requirements at major pipeline crossings; including river, road and rail.
• Familiar with types of geohazards found along the pipelines; including landslides, seismic faults, karst areas, river migrations and soil erosion.
• Develop solutions for monitoring and remediation works due to geohazards.
• Experience in undertaking pipeline route selection and optimization works (desktop and field activities).
• Capable of assessing pipeline routings with regards to topographical, geophysical, social and economic constraints.
• Working knowledge of Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
• Develop solutions for pipeline isolation, hot tapping and repairs.
• Knowledge of pipeline leak detection and scraping systems.
• Field experience in pipeline routing, crossings and above ground facilities (block valve stations, pigging stations).
• Experience in checking isomeric drawings and ensuring pipeline stress requirements are incorporated.
• Review and checking of the technical content of 3rd party pipeline Define and Execute packages.
• Technical support and input to the procurement team with regards to any packages ordered for pipeline materials.
• Reviews of bid documents from EPC Contractors and preparation of evaluation reports.
• Familiar with related codes and have a good working knowledge of the latest design codes and standards and analytical techniques used in the industry.
• Substantial experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
• Proven ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Experienced in managing a team of Pipeline engineers and designers.
• Experience of working in a multicultural, multi-disciplined, multi-site work share environment.
• Ability to work in a team environment and coordinate with other discipline lead engineers.
• Experience in working with large multinational oil and gas companies.
• Computer skills in relevant packages including databases, spreadsheets and word processing packages.
• Well developed report writing and public speaking skills.
• Ability to determine the advantages and disadvantages and relative costs of alternative design concepts and establish preferred concepts. Demonstrating continual improvement in the execution of work.
• Able to make difficult decisions and lead and manage others in changing business conditions.
• Excellent people management skills such as leadership, team, interpersonal, coaching, mentoring and supervisory skills. Must be able to build, motivate, develop and manage an effective team.
• Excellent management skills including the ability to plan, set goals; and manage time, priorities, resources, accountabilities, schedules and cost.
• Extensive technical and practical experience in pipeline design and operation.
• Approximately 15 years, with a minimum of 5 years experience in either a senior engineering position in the hydrocarbons sectors and at least 10 years in an engineering role.
• A recognised degree in the relevant discipline or equivalent.
Preferred:Postgraduate qualifications in the relevant discipline; management or supervisory qualifications or equivalent experience, desirable with pipelines.
• Desirable to have registration as a chartered engineer with the Institution of Engineers, preferably at Fellow level.
